Story
Fund raising has stopped. Please read the update 💕
This is our friend Denise Quinn nee Porteous. Denise was diagnosed with peritoneal cancer and had her stomach lining stripped and a tumour removed from her colon in Basingstoke. Denise then returned to the North East in the care of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to begin her chemotherapy. Denise has had two types of chemotherapy but the targeted chemotherapy is called Cetuximab. Because Denise has had this type of chemotherapy once before her oncologist asked Denise at her last appointment if she would be in a position to pay at the cost of £21,000.00. Denise of course said she could not afford to pay which means she may have to have chemotherapy which does not target her type of cancer or a trial drug. Denise replied she was willing to try anything; Cetuximab is specific to peritoneal cancer and this is why we are attempting to raise the money for her. She deserves nothing but the best. She has been so brave and selfless throughout this period of her life, always asking after everybody else and never asking for anything for herself. One in a million 💕

7 years agoRe: Denise Quinn nee Porteous. Dear All, I have just received a telephone from Denise. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital have telephoned her to say that they had received a call from someone who had seen this fund raising page. The hospital did not confirm the source but this person said that as Denise had not received her first Cetuximab course as a first line treatment she was entitled to it this time. Denise has been asked to attend the hospital on Wednesday to begin her Cetuximab treatment!
