Whilst travelling through India I couldn't help but be greatly moved by the sheer number of injured, diseased and severely malnourished animals that literally litter the streets. It's something that doesn't leave you.

The most obvious plight you see is that of the street dogs. Strays, many of which are in a terrible state and do not receive any aid. Mange takes over their bodies, injuries get left untreated and proceed to rot and fill with maggots. One puppy I saw in a crowded bus station had his foot bitten off and yet people just walked by taking no notice, it's a common scene.

There are organisations in India and Nepal who are coming to the rescue of these creatures in need, but the task is so huge they need our help and support to do more good. In many places I visited there simply is no help anywhere nearby so animals are left to suffer.

I plan to raise as much as possible to help fund rescue organisations in India and Nepal. I will also be travelling back out to volunteer with as many organisations as possible with the aim of bringing aid and rescue into more areas that do not already have it. Alongside educating locals in how to help these animals where aid centres are not present I hope make it possible for more animals to get the treatment and rehabilitation that they are desperate for.
