Story

Hi and thanks for visiting.

I have created this page in support of my brother Jem, who after around 40 years in the building trade is training to become a dog behaviourist. To expand his knowledge and skills Jem has embarked on a trip to Thailand to work for 3 months as a volunteer in an animal rescue centre on the island of Koh Lanta. The centre (Lanta Animal Welfare - LAW) does fabulous work for both dogs and cats that have either been rescued from cruel and abusive environments or often, have just been abandoned to live a feral life on the streets, unwanted and unloved.

The centre aims to care for the animals, to relieve the suffering and pain that many are experiencing, to treat injuries, to feed and return them to health, to sterilise them which in turn helps to stop hundreds of thousands of unwanted kittens and puppies and ultimately and ideally to find them a loving forever home - Without this centre and the wonderful volunteers most of these poor creatures would just not survive...

The centre receives no official funding for the amazing work they do and Jem is meeting the cost of his trip and his stay from his own pocket so you will understand that the sad and simple truth is that this crucial work can not continue without financial support in the form of kind and generous donations.

So, some figures... £6 will feed a cat or dog for one week, £10 will cover vaccinations or sterilisation for an animal and £20 will provide special diet food for vulnerable animals for 14 days. Other things like leads, grooming aids and (think about this one) balls and toys are invaluable and in constant need. The truth of course is that anything you are able to give will make a difference and improve the lives of these unfortunate animals.

Finally, I know that money is tight and especially so at this time of year so if you can’t donate or actually if it’s just not your thing, can I ask that you share this… it’ll only take a second or two and the more people who see this, the better.

Thank you. .. Andy.
