Myself & Jo will be cycling from Blackpool Tower to Tower of London to The Eiffel Tower to raise funds for the Henderson Suite at West Cumberland Hospital, the Children's Cancer Fund at RVI Hospital & Cancer Research UK. These are all cancer related charities which are close to our hearts. The Henderson Suite in our local hospital does a brilliant job looking after people who are receiving cancer treatment & the Children's Cancer Fund at Newcastle is where the children from Cumbria go.
Cancer is a word which is becoming more common & I seem to hear it on a daily basis nowadays, my Mam, Uncle and neighbor have fought cancer & are beating it but I have also lost people to it too including my Granda so it's something that is always on my mind.
Four years ago when my Mam was diagnosed I decided to tackle The cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats to raise money for Breast Cancer & Cancer Research & I thought it was time for a new challenge (although I'm sure when I finished LEJOG i told my best friend to talk me out of any more silly ideas 😳) so decided Blackpool Tower to Eiffel Tower would be a good challenge & not to keep it simple decided to add in Tower of London. We have been fundraising throughout the year & already have over £5000 to share between our charities so the more we can raise for doing the cycle ride is all the more for the 3 brilliant charities.
We set off on our journey on 29th July arriving in Paris on 5th August, local businesses have supported us with our trip & we are camping along the way. My Mam, dad, nephew & friends are providing support on our journey ensuring we will be well fed to keep our energy levels up & I am grateful for their support as we couldn't do this on our own.
Our support van is all lettered up & I want people to write messages to their loved ones who they have lost or who are fighting cancer. Thanks for reading & any donations gratefully accepted. UP YOURS CANCER
