Story
WasteAid UK are an amazing independent charity working in low-income countries where there are no official waste management services. They share practical and low-cost waste management know-how with communities in which rubbish is either openly dumped or burned. Impacts of poor/no waste management include harm to people (rubbish blocks drains=flooding=water borne diseases; breathing in toxic fumes from burning rubbish), wildlife (livestock are injured or die when scavenging on dumpsites) and the environment (pollution from burning waste; marine plastics). So I am giving some of my time to travel to Africa and support WasteAid's Plastics Recycling Project in The Gambia. I'll be helping to train local project partners in monitoring and evaluation to help understand the impacts of the work they're doing. I'll also be learning. A lot!
Anything you can donate to help get me there is brilliant. Thanks 🙏
