Story

I am climbing mounts Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours on 18-19 May 2024 to support the work of the medical charity The Guru Projects Foundation. I was privileged to be involved in the inaugural charity surgical trip to Colombia in 2023, where I witnessed first-hand the difference made by the charity. Over 200 cataract and other eye procedures were performed, changing the lives of a population with no regular access to any form of eye care.

The Guru Projects Foundation is a medical charity dedicated to improving the lives of people throughout the world. Pooling together resources, knowledge and talent to address causes of reversible blindness in low-income countries, we strive to make a tangible impact to those with poor access to modern healthcare.

To date, the charity has undertaken two trips to South America and has supported the work of other charitable organisations. More than 500 people have had essential eye surgery, which they would not have had access to without the work of the group.

The charity is planning further trips, later this year and in 2025. All of our surgeons are entirely self-funded, with 100% of the charity resources going on to fund medical equipment. Any donation, however small, will be gratefully received and will go directly towards helping people in need.

Please have a look at the Charity website for more information.
