I've raised £850 to Train and work alongside teaching staff in rural Uganda to improve the learning and education experiences of children in the country.

In July 2018 I will be travelling to rural Uganda as part of a small Scottish teacher cohort. We will deliver training to teaching staff across the Masindi region on how to plan and deliver lessons to pupils by using a selection of local and limited resources. We will also share best practice, mentor staff, and lead personal and professional development sessions.
The aim of the project is to continue to develop the skills and confidence of local practitioners in order that they then have the tools to continually improve the country's educational system and structure. These skills can be used far beyond my time in Uganda and hopefully assist in training future would-be teachers that already live in the country.
I am incredibly passionate about Learning for Sustainability and the idea that young people should learn how social, political, cultural and economic environments are connected in order to help them find their own roles and responsibilities within society. Education plays a key part in developing a more sustainable world and part of that is working to share effective ideas and solutions.
I am really looking forward to participating in the project and sharing my experiences with the children I teach in Scotland, my school community and anyone else that would like to be involved! I am hopeful that my time in Uganda will allow me to continue to share effective ways to learn for sustainability.
This project is supported by the Wood Foundation and as such, I am trying to fundraise the remaining £850 cost of my experience. I will be running a variety of fundraising events but if you would like to contribute here, you are most welcome to do so.
Thank you so much for your support - it means the world to me!
