On 28th July 2018, Andy and friends are taking part in Tough Mudder to raise money for two huge support networks. We would like to split any donations equally between the two so that we can give back the support they have given to us, but also to help them continue to do what they do every single day. This is our story...

On 19th July 2017, mine and Andy's lives were changed forever in the most unimaginable way. At 8.32am, our beautiful son, Isaac James, was born and made us parents for the first time. Unfortunately, he was born at only 24 weeks gestation and his life was cut very short due to complications during his birth. He fought for 7 hours, surpassing all expectations, falling asleep forever in our arms, surrounded by love.

The neonatal team at DRI supported us in the run up to Isaac's birth and throughout his life, fighting to save him and keep us hopeful yet realistic. They could not have done anymore for us, it is not just a job to them, they take this home with them and it affects them in a way you cannot imagine. After Isaac's life had ended, they kept him with them rather than taking him to the chapel of rest. For this, we cannot thank them enough. Knowing that he was safe and how much of an impact he made on them was, and still is, of great comfort to us and our families. The work that these amazing doctors and nurses do everyday is incomparable.

As we left the hospital, we were given two memory boxes containing keepsakes from Isaac. These are provided by a fantastic, yet heartbreaking, charity called Abbie's Fund. They donate the boxes to parents and sibiling of babies that are stillborn or die shortly after birth. Without these boxes, we would not have physical memories of Isaac and our time that we had as a family. They are invaluable to us and all of the families that receive them.
