Story

I am a disabled, vulnerable, American woman in Bournemouth. My benefits have yet again been suspended over a visa issue. I have been awarded PIP at the highest level, but have now been without any income for two months.

Why? Because in spite of having a valid visa, issued by the Home Office, the Department of Work and Pensions refuses to release my funds because, they say, my visa details must be uploaded by a specialist technician and not by my case worker.

My MP, Junior Defense Minister Tobias Ellwood has involved himself personally, but even then, he cannot get past the DWP case worker who refuses to deal with the case until the elusive “specialist” has got round to updating the computer with the new visa details.

Austerity kills. It leaves vulnerable people destitute and mentally exhausted. 110,000 people have died so far under DWP incompetence. Whatever your politics, this is not right, it is not fair, and it is a human rights violation. It directly discriminates against the mentally ill, disabled and poor.

Please help if you can.
