Story

I, along with a group of young people, will be travelling to Malawi in November with East Renfrewshire Council and the Betty Cunningham Trust Fund. In order to raise some money to support the fantastic work of the Betty Cunningham Foundation I am looking for people to sponsor me to do a fundraising skydive on 30 September! The citizens of Malawi are living in extreme poverty. Children are faced with a daily struggle against starvation, often with no access to healthcare and a complete lack of education. The aim of charities such as The Betty Cunningham Trust is to help the poor of Kaponda district to break free from their chains of poverty, to break the vicious cycle and end their need for charitable assistance. By providing Kaponda villagers with sources of food and fresh water, they will have the time and energy to care for themselves and their children. By providing access to basic healthcare facilities children will have a greater chance of reaching adulthood, and adults will be better able to care for their children. By providing these children with an education they will be more likely to advance themselves and pull further clear from the jaws of poverty.

Please note that NONE of the money raised through sponsorship will be used to pay for the skydive. This is already paid for in FULL - all money raised will be donated directly to the charity.
