Story

During Theatre Treffen's International Forum in Berlin 2022, I met Chipo Basopo Chindungwe. Her vision is to bring consistent artistic opportunities to young people in her local area of Mhondoro Ngezi, Zimbabwe.

What a legend, right?

From 24th- 26th October 2024, a festival called ZVEDU will be held in Mamima, Zimbabwe- set to illuminate the vibrant life of Mhondoro Ngezi's people. The festival will involve schools from ward 3, 5 and 8 in Mhondoro.

A word from Chipo:

ZVEDU is more than a festival; it's a cultural crusade to showcase the unseen brilliance of our youth, weaving together the threads of talent and heritage into a tapestry of rural enchantment. We're on a mission to transform Mhondoro Ngezi into a cultural hub, drawing eyes and hearts worldwide to its beauty and hospitality."

So where do I fit in?

I'm going to slog up the big bad Ben Nevis in Scotland and Scafell Pike in the Lakes, hoping that sunburn and exhaustion raise some money to help some kids dance and sing. Hopefully it'll stop me dancing and singing anyway...
