Story

Jennifer has a learning disability and is profoundly deaf. Around the age of 2 years, brain scans indicated that she would be unlikely to walk, communicate and lead a fulfilling life. How wrong we were, despite these problems, Jennifer took everything in her stride and with her love of music and dancing, decided to learn to ice skate. Jennifer started skating 10 years ago, she participated in the 2017 Winter World games, where she achieved a 4th place. We are very proud to say that she has been selected to represent Great Britain again in 2022, when she skates in Russia, this time with her partner in a pairs event as well as singles. Special Olympics, skating and competing has given Jenny so many skills, boosted her confidence and helped her into employment, which has increased her independence and self esteem.

Lock down has drastically affected her access to the rink, presently coaching is done off ice, but she is still as committed as ever, training hard and continuing to hold down her two part-time jobs. Please help us to make her dream come true, any donations would be so very much appreciated, thank you.
