Story

Please note: I have now received the full amount I need for this course which is amazing! I cannot close the page for 30 days so any donations from this point are still very much welcome but will go towards making our communal spaces feel more welcoming and donations for the women I work with.

I have had the privilege of working in a homeless hostel for over 3 years, which is a job I love. Within the last year, I have been focusing on developing my role as the women's worker, with a particular emphasis on supporting victims of domestic violence. This is something that I carry a lot of passion for but feel overwhelmed when it comes to providing substantial support beyond signposting to relevant services.
From my experience, it can take a client a long time to build up enough trust and courage to initially disclose domestic violence and a big part of that is the fear of what is going to happen next.
I would love the opportunity to support my clients thoroughly from first disclosure right the way through to whatever solution they decide they would like to pursue. The IDVA qualification provides the perfect platform for doing this well and I am so excited to learn more in this area. However, whilst my passion is very much present, my finances are certainly not. I have received a place on this course to start in October, with the hope of being qualified by the end of January.
Any financial support you can offer will be so gratefully received and I am confident that this qualification will make a key difference to the help I can offer.
Thanks so much,
Jen
