Story
Old Tettenhallians` and Friends of Alex;
The enormous affection and sense of loyalty people feel towards Alex is something he finds almost overwhelming but it’s a simple case of recognising what he means to so many of us, and the impression he’s made on a huge number of people over the years.
Yet it’s not the past but his future that we’re now talking about, which is why your continued support for Alex is vital.
And, for Alex, that future is worryingly uncertain in light of his medical condition and recent course of events.
As you know, Alex was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2007. A degenerative neurological condition, it affects each individual differently with the level of progression varying from person to person. But the reality for many is that the symptoms will tend to become worse over time.
When the initial symptoms appear, they can seem relatively mild and, with medication, can remain so for some time. For others though, the symptoms can develop relatively quickly and, within a short number of years, a person can become very disabled.
Such uncertainty can, in itself, be a cause of great anxiety, resulting in a real depreciation in a person’s quality of life.
While we cannot predict how Alex’s disease will develop, we feel it’s important to alleviate that sense of anxiety as much as we can.
That’s why we’re setting up a ‘Crowd Funding’ page to help fund the kind of support he may need later in his life so that Alex can at least enjoy a level of stability and secure lifestyle we all believe he deserves.

A big part of my growing up as a boarder, Alex was quite simply a rock of stability to me and my brother James. Deserves a comfortable retirement.

Can never think about TC without remembering Alex; the contribution he made to school life was unique. Loved and recognised for its purity by all the children who appreciated it. Irreplaceable

A gentleman who put the pupils and TC first. He was always there for Aimée and Chloë with a friendly word and a doughnut to keep them going! He created a 'childhood' to play in and happy memories.
