    Story

We are pleased to announce that Stockport Harrier Jeremy Mirams, has agreed to run the popular Stockport trail and road 13.1 miler Hatters Half Marathon in support of the Supporters Cooperatives , Guardian Account.

His top time for the Hatters Half is 1 .47, but Jeremy`s PB for the distance of 1.28 places the current `Guardian Account Hero` record of 2.12, established by Des Greene in 2017, in severe jeopardy.

A Supply Manager by profession, Jeremy takes his running very seriously, training on the roads of Stockport 2 or 3 times per week, supplementing this commendable effort with track work at Woodbank Park with Stockport Harriers.

Add a daily regime that includes cycling to work and you can see he means business.

Jeremy s target time for this year`s race is 1.45.

“ I simply love this rather special race “ he advised , adding “I live on the race route, on Northgate Road, and it is brilliant that the neighbours come out in numbers to give the runners welcome encouragement in the difficult last few miles”

We are delighted to welcome Jeremy as our Guardian Account Hero.

Meanwhile, If you want to run the race details are at http://hattershalf.co.uk

Another fantastic Hatters Half - Lovely scenic course, well organised and lots of helpful marshals. Well done 👍 Thanks to everyone who sponsored me - Over £500 raised to help secure the future of Edgeley Park via the Stockport County Supporters Co-operative Guardian Account 😃 My finishing time was 1 hour 40 mins and 14 secs which was 5 mins quicker than my target and 8 mins ahead of last year 😉

The weather in Stockport has hindered training over the last couple of weeks with Edgeley being wet & windy, plus the added excuse of both mine and my wife’s families being evacuated during the Whaley Bridge dam collapse drama. However, this morning I was back on it with a rain soaked run along (much of) the route of the Hatters Half. Based on my pace I should smash a time of 2 hours 10 minutes on the big day, however if I hammer it, and especially if I can reach my £800 sponsorship target, I reckon that I can get close to my 1 hour 45 target.`

Jeremy latest diary : I ran the Whaley Waltz on hottest day of the year - The 5.9 mile fell race went to what felt like the top of the world & back, finishing with a welcome and cooling river crossing I also took did cross country 5 mile ‘handicap’ race with the Stockport Harriers I also ran the route of Stockport’s Giant Leap Frog Trail from numbers one through nineteen - I managed 16 minutes and 15 seconds (with a slight detour between frogs 9 and 10 because the side doors at Merseyway were locked) Feeling confident for the Hatters Half now!
