Story

On 3rd March 2019 I will be running the High Legh 10k and wondered whether you would consider sponsoring me.

I am fundraising for a trip for 16 students from St Ambrose College to visit Sierra Leone on an immersion trip where we will be living and working alongside pupils at our sister school, St Ambrose Academy, in Freetown. The trip will take place in February 2020 and as part of the immersion we are responsible for raising the funds ourselves.

St Ambrose Academy, a school for 300 pupils, was set up in 2010 as a joint partnership with St Ambrose College. St Ambrose College now sponsor 10 pupils orphaned by Ebola who attend the school.

The aim of the trip is to experience first-hand the social and cultural realities of Sierra Leone and raise awareness of the continued difficulties for the community and country as a whole following the Ebola crisis. The emphasis will be on experiencing the diverse aspects of the community including work, domestic life, education, social outreach, poverty, recreation and religion. We have a specific target of assisting to fund and construct adequate toilet facilities at the school. A basic facility that we take for granted but one that they so desperately need.

Any contribution you feel able to make would be gratefully received not only by myself but more importantly by the children at St Ambrose Academy in Freetown.

I look forward to telling you all about it.

Many thanks Jerome
