Story
Rai-L’eyah Saddique was an incredibly caring, loving, selfless and supportive girl.
On the 9th of November 2022, Rai-L’eyah suddenly collapsed at school. Following this, she was taken to hospital before her family were told that she had suffered a catastrophic bleed on the brain; Rai-L’eyah sadly passed away.
Each and every member of the Jerry Clay Academy school community has many fond memories of Rai-L’eyah; she is described as kind, caring, welcoming, determined and inspiring along with countless other positive affirmations. She loved school and was a model pupil in so many ways. She worked incredibly hard and always made sure everyone felt happy and safe. She was meticulous in everything that she did and was tenacious in achieving any of the goals that she set. She was a member of our Junior Leadership Team and was incredibly proud to be Head of Communications. She was a real advocate of JCA and was proud to attend the school. Rai-L’eyah often took a lead in organisation and was always keen to involve every child. Her personality traits are absolutely something we will continue to promote at JCA!
On Monday 21st August 2023, many staff from Jerry Clay Academy aim to complete the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge alongside members of Rai-L’eyah’s family. The challenge is going to be difficult, however training has already commenced and we all look forward to the task ahead!
All money raised will contribute directly to the family’s aim to raise money to raise awareness of Brain Arteriovenous Malformations (AVMs) and Brain aneurysms in children, along with the symptoms and the early signs to look for. As well as this, money raised will contribute towards developing a suite in the Leeds General Infirmary, named after Rai-L’eyah, so that families in a similar situation have a supportive environment and feel as comfortable as possible. Furthermore, money raised will be used to develop a school in a country less fortunate than the UK. Rai-L’eyah's ambition was to become a teacher so it would be a dream to open a school in her memory. Every donation will help and we are grateful to anyone who can contribute.
