Story

The most amazing evening filling our happiness cups right to the top!

We need your help to save Jersey Sings. Jersey Sings is the largest most inspiring educational project in Jersey open to 1500 children.

Each year children take part learning about team work, communication, and gain self confidence. Through a 4 month singing learning journey they learn about history, language, and great music - all the time having great fun.

I am pro inclusion, a music teacher and a parent. I whole heartedly believe in the value Jersey Sings adds to education and well being. My son said ‘it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I’m definitely doing it next year”.

"It was fantastic. My expectations were high, but nevertheless surpassed. I honestly can’t remember a time I’ve felt so uplifted for two solid hours! Brilliant."

The children gain so much and the final showcase is just filled with joy and love and inspiration. Most of all it is about being inclusive. Every child gets the same opportunity from Mont A L’Abbe to Rouge Bouillon to JCG.

"My daughter felt part of the school community Once I stopped crying at the first part , I was so over whelmed by the children voices and enthusiasm it was amazing x thank you

The teachers are incredible teaching the children in the schools and we are grateful for the support in kind of the Jersey Music Service.

Running a 6 month project for 1500 children costs a lot of money. With Fort Regent closing we have extra costs of £3,000 for a marquee, £2,100 for chair hire for the mums and dads, £850 for moving chairs from the Fort to the Showground, and £1,500 for extra security because the equipment cannot be locked up or moved at night.

Creating a stage takes 5 days work, and rigging up sound and lighting for 750 in the choir, putting in 100s of metres of cabling, providing microphones for the children, and having sound engineers on the 2 days and nights of the showcase costs a substantial 4 figure sum which is hugely discounted by our partner. There are huge numbers of other costs as well including preparing educational materials for 28 schools, workshops for 40 teachers, administrating 28 schools, the band, the amazing conductor David Lawrence who leads Young Voices in the UK and much more.

We need your help and hope that you will give generously.
