Story

As some of you may be aware, in March our Football Manager Mike Tongue became unwell. After a short period of time without a diagnosis in Tameside Hospital he was transferred to Salford Royal and given the diagnosis of ANCA Vasculitis. After several rounds of steroids with no effect, Mike began chemotherapy and will continue with this treatment over the next year. At the end of April, Mike checked into the Devonshire Centre for Neuro-rehabilitation and has been receiving rehab and was discharged earlier this month.

We are beyond proud of Mike's attuite towards everyday life and his ongoing recovery. The team at SSV have been keeping in touch with countless Facetimes and visits, and report that Mike always has a smile on his face no matter what.

To show our support and do what we can to help, the team at SSV are planning a challenge, and we want you to get involved! On Friday11th October we invite you to walk with us from Life Leisure Houldsworth Village to Old Trafford and back via a different route. We will be raising funds for Salford Royal and the Devonshire Unit. Everyone is welcome so please bring along family and friends too!

Why Old Trafford? We've chosen Old Trafford as Mike is a massive Manchester United supported!
