Story
I have been given the opportunity to volunteer in Indonesia on a 4 week placement for SLV Global working with those with a variety of mental health needs who struggle to access care. I will be volunteering in deprived areas of Bali with people in need of psychiatric support and will be learning a wide range of treatments and coping strategies to support them. I will also be teaching children English to help with their employability in the future. I will be working extremely hard Monday to Friday in carefully planned workshops in the community and in the psychiatric hospital in Bali.
In order to raise money for this cause I have decided to take part in the National Three Peaks Challenge in June 2019 with my friend Anna Coffey, who's mum has kindly volunteered to be the designated driver. This includes climbing up the three highest mountains in each of the countries making up Great Britain; Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, in under 24 hours.
As a second year Psychology student at the University of Liverpool it is a great privilege for me to be able to make a change and help those in need and I am thoroughly looking forward to the challenge. The whole placement fee of £1400 will be funded by myself and therefore any donations will be extremely appreciated and will go to a very important cause, thank you so much!
