Story
This will be my third charity volunteer trip abroad in the space of three years. Within the past two years i have not only seen a dramatic change in myself but also a huge change in other people and now that every penny of the money donated is used well.
My first charity trip was to Armenia and i got selected to do this with 11 amazing mother girls from the North West with Girl Guiding. We spent a fortnight out there and worked with the local Armenian girls and camped with them. We also helped out at a nursery and helped paint the new nursery they hope to move into. In the other days we did art with the girls and learnt a range of skills.
More recently in April i went to The Gambia in Africa and we helped support a Girl Guide camp by running the day sessions. Nearly 100 girls were in attendance and we taught everything from life saving first aid to dental and personal hygiene. We also helped them set up their own community projects so that when we are gone they can continue the work we have done. What was very exciting for them was the science day we ran with the day being full of fun and educational practical sessions that they would never have encountered before.
We also went to a high school for aspiring nurses and taught them valuable first aid and other life skills, conquering some of the misconceptions they have about what to do in an accident. Not to mention the mainstream high school we taught at and the primary school.
Nicaragua is my next big adventure and i am so thankful to be able to go out there and work with the charity ''La Esperanza Granada" who work with schools and do everything from building the classrooms to teaching in them. The education budget in Nicaragua is extremely low and we believe that every child has the right to a prosperous future, no matter where they come from. Every single penny of your donation will be fully appreciated.
