    Story

Nippers Nutrition is on a mission to oust childhood obesity by making food fun for fussy eaters, and exercise an enjoyable experience for the (whole) family.

With one in three children starting secondary school obese or overweight, instilling healthier dietary habits and a positive perception of physical activity from an early age has never been more important – particularly as the habits developed during childhood will often continue into adolescence and adulthood.

By tackling the common concerns that have a tendency to be trigged during childhood – fussy food eating, inactivity and a taste for fast food and sugary sweet treats – Nippers Nutrition aims to teach parents and teachers how to satisfy stubborn stomachs sensibly, tame the tantrums that stem from trying to tempt toddlers to tuck into new tastes and textures and ensure that exercise is an enjoyable experience for children who lack the confidence to participate in physical activity – be it with or without their peers – as well as how to create an abundance of realistic recipes that are fun, flavoursome and full of the necessary nutrients that children need for adequate growth and development.

Aside from the above, I would also love to find and obtain a form of funding that will allow me to provide an array of activities to aid the weight and well-being of the children in our local community i.e. creative crafts, child friendly cookery classes and outdoor activities that encourage exercise, as well as a weekly meet for parents who struggle to socialise as a result of suffering from mental health problems, and a fruit and vegetable box for families who are on a low income and/or find it difficult to access healthier food sources. My long-term goal is to open a community centre which will include access to child appropriate exercise equipment –vital for those who are overweight/obese – fun food related activities and unlimited resources for parents with children who are prone to problematic eating.
