I've raised £1000 to support the great work of Refuweegee to help refugees to feel safe and welcome in Glasgow!

It's been a tricky year getting back up on my feet and walking again, but it has been enriched by love and support from everyone in my life. I've decided that now The Leg is frame-free, it's high time to pay it forward...
The challenge is ambitious! I will walk 96 miles (the length of the West Highland Way - not just a very annoying distance!), throughout October - culminating in a virtual 5K on Halloween. I will attempt to run the final 5k but let's face it, I haven't made The Leg do any running yet and will very likely be exhausted by then!
The cause is noble! Imagine moving to a new city, (where it does nothing but rain!) likely feeling scared and alone, having been forcibly displaced from your home. Can you imagine it? Unbearable, isn't it? Thankfully, Refuweegee is a charity working in Glasgow to welcome refugees in 'true weegie style'. They dedicate their time, energy and supplies to creating packages of useful items, clothes and supplies, along with welcoming letters. Since 2016 they have provided over 2000 community-built, personalised welcome packs. These are then distributed throughout schools and community groups to welcome Glasgow's new arrivals and remind everyone that 'we're all fae somewhere'. During the pandemic they have served as a crucial lifeline for refugees and asylum seekers with regular deliveries of food parcels and toiletries.
PS. The finale will be a leg-shave, which die-hard followers of my broken-legged journey will know is about 7 months in the making. This will be performed on Zoom with link provided to those who donate...
Please help me to help Refuweegee continue their incredible work!
