I have recently taken up the amazing opportunity offered by my school (The King's School, Peterborough) to partake in a two week expedition to Uganda in the summer of 2018. A group of us have volunteered to trek to, and give aid to, a suffering Ugandan community by helping carry out a project of the community's choosing to improve the lives of those living there.

Last year a similar expedition was organised which saw the students build a children's playground from scratch, providing all materials and labour, as requested by the locals, as the children hadn't had a safe area in which to play. The community were incredibly grateful and love the wonderful playground that was built, in the sweltering conditions, for them. After hearing of this touching story, and the connections which my fellow peers made with these underprivileged people, I was keen to make my own contribution this year.

Due to the fact that we volunteer to provide these services and provide all necessary equipment, as well as the expense of the accommodation needed for our expedition, the cost of the trip is rather high. We are required to fundraise the finance ourselves, by various means (such as holding fundraising events and sales), but any donations would also be greatly appreciated to help raise the amount required. Every little helps!

I would be incredibly grateful for any contribution, big or small, that you may be willing to make that would allow me to go on this expedition to aid a community less fortunate than our own, and make a real difference in improving the quality of their lives. This is a once in a life time opportunity that both myself, and hopefully those we are trekking to Uganda to help, will never forget, and possibly never encounter again.
