Cambodia was once rich in wildlife but due to deforestation and hunting, the ecosystem is in real danger. Our important role is to help reforest damaged parts of this landscape to encourage some of the world’s most endangered wildlife to return. We will also be helping to build homes for the local families and to improve schooling facilities.

In the summer 2019 I'm going to Cambodia with camp international. While out there I will be:

Helping to build a school kitchen because when it rains they have to close class rooms so they can cook, as the cooking facilities are outside, this means some children won't be able to learn on these days as their class room is closed. Also, this may be the only meal most will get all day.

Helping with reforestation programmes aimed at replenishing forest that has been damaged in by commercial deforestation as well as providing communities with crops of their own.

We will be building a dam so when it rains it will fill up the lakes and marshes. This is there key source of life because the dam will fill with fish.

Help to clean up their beaches.

Help build a bridge to make it easier and safer for the children to get to school

Help with the installations of community toilet block as many of the homes don't have their own toilets, so by installing these toilets it will reduce hygiene and healthcare issues.

To raise money for this trip to Cambodia I'm going to be running a half marathon or 10k to collect sponsors. I will also be doing local bingos, coffee and cake mornings and cake sales. Also, be collecting donations.

My aim is to raise £4000 in order to go on this amazing once in a lifetime hands on experience.

Camps international help many countries and it is a very worthy organisation. I’m overwhelmed to have been given this incredible and amazing opportunity to help just as they have done on previous visits.
