On september 16th 2018. I will be running a half marathon! I will be raising money (which will be split equally) for two youth and adult performing arts groups- alliance performance ensemble in Clacton and oracle colourguard in Crawley. I have been lucky enough to teach both of these unit who compete around the UK between october and april each year.

Colourguard is a sport of the art which combines fitness, skill and performance using flags, sabres and rifles to create stunning performances!

These two groups rely on talented staff and helpers to give up their FREE time to teach these people. Fundraising helps keep the costs low to members so it is an activity that is affordable for everyone and particularly those who maybe wouldn’t be able to afford to participate in school clubs or outside team activities. Keeping the cost low for members gives everyone the opportunity to be a part of something great!

Having been a performing member myself, I know that this activity teaches the important life skills such as determination, team work, innovation, creativity and committment as well as encouraging people to be confident in their own skin and encouraging equality and diversity!

I have never ran anything close to this distance and I will only have 4months to train for it! Wish me luck and please dig deep for these wonderful organisations so they can continue to keep providing fantastic opportunities to those in their local communities!
