Story

Wiltshire Search and Rescue (Wilsar for short) is made up wholly of volunteers who are available between them 24/7 to assist the emergency services to find missing people. These could be vulnerable people with mental health issues, children and old people with dementia or it could be someone who has got lost or hurt themselves somewhere remote. Call outs can come any time in the day!!

I will go through a rigorous programme over the next 6 months before I qualify and must get dozens of skills signed off to national standards. These include navigation, radio communications, casualty care and helicopter safety. This will take up every other Sunday and most Wednesday nights. Once qualified I can help search for missing people.

It costs over £200 to equip each new team member. Wilsar receives no funding from the government or the police. It is totally self funded through raising money. Volunteers pay for their own personal equipment, fuel and expenses. I would like to raise funds to cover my training and get out searching as quickly as I can. Any donations will be gratefully received and will hopefully make a difference to saving lives in the future. Thank you
