I've raised £1000 to Ward 84 and the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of Manchester Children's Hospital

Many of you will already know that I spend most of my week teaching, caring and supporting young children. I am a class teacher to 29 Year 2s of who I love and want the very best for. Just before Christmas I was told the heart-breaking news that one of my children from my class was diagnosed with Leukaemia for the 2nd time in his life. Reuben spent all the festive period and up until present day fighting the disease with his family being close by. After a long and very painful time for Reuben, I am
pleased to announce that he has beaten the disease once again, however he still has a long road to recovery. Reuben has been cared for by lots of people, all of which have gone above and beyond their professional duty. Reuben spent most of his treatment time within Ward 84 and the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit within Manchester Children hospital.
Ward 84 and the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit (BMT) are respectively a 28 bed and 7 bed children's ward for the treatment of cancer and other blood disorders. The BMT also treats children for a wide range of auto-immune diseases through bone marrow transplants as well as cancers. Both sections are outstanding in their care for these young people, as the ward becomes their home and their life during their treatment. The all-round care support and facilities on this ward is outstanding and the doctors, nurses, play workers and support staff pull together to make a difficult diagnosis bearable. It has been a very special place for bot
h Reuben and his family and we would be grateful if you would sponsor myself and my father, Rob Hawman, in completing the 3 national peeks within 24 hours. All funds raised will be used to make future families time in the ward more comfortable and bearable.
The challenge will take place on the afternoon of the 15th June, where we will set off climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and finally Snowdon within 24 hours.
Any amount would be much appreciated.
Thank you!
