Story
Eastfield Near Scarborough is a rapidly expanding town with 7,500 people and is classed as an area of high deprivation with no cinema, cafe or pub where people can meet. After the popular metal skatepark at Pindar School was demolished some years ago, there hasn't been a place for young people to enjoy skateboarding and scootering. Those who can afford it have to travel to the seafront skatepark. Eastfield lacks physical activities for 11 to 17-year-olds, and it's time they had a place to burn off energy.
Eastfield Residents Association plan to build a concrete skatepark on the disused site of the old Overdale School. Discussions with North Yorkshire Council began last year to secure the site for community use. Our local councillor, Tony Randerson, is involved in the discussion with North Yorkshire Council and has given us his full support along with Scarborough MP Sir Robert Goodwill.
Eastfield Town Council has pledged £25k, and the PACT regeneration group has pledged another £25k. The total build cost is expected to be around £350k to £400k, which we aim to raise through national grants, local businesses and a crowdfunding page.
If we work together we can make this a reality which can be enjoyed by everyone for years to come so please donate what you can. Thank you.
We are working as hard as we can to make this dream become a reality but pleased be assured that any funds which we can not spend on this project will be ring fenced to support leisure for the young people of Eastfield.
