Story

Six months ago Jim woke one morning suffering severe abdominal pains. He immediately called 999 and was rushed to hospital. There, the doctors diagnosed Jim with acute necrotising pancreatitis and put Jim into an induced coma to give him the best chances of staying alive. Two weeks later Jim awoke and, despite the odds, is slowly but surely recovering.

Over the following months in hospital Jim has had multiple operations to try and address the various complications that the pancreatitis caused. This hospitalisation was extended due to Jim suffering multiple relapses, including Jim is having to learn to walk again.

Unfortunately just before Jim's hospitalisation he was planning a career change and had left his job a couple of weeks earlier. As such, Jim has been using his savings to pay his mortgage and associated essential outgoings. Initially, Jim was in no condition to apply for state support and although he is now going through this lengthy process, he has already burnt through most of his savings and is running into debt with the bank.

The doctors hope Jim might be able to return home in a few months time. Raising £2500 for Jim would go a good way to clearing the interest that has accumulated since his admission. By then he should get some support from the state and he can start to focus on his rehabilitation and getting back to work.

Jim, as we all know, is a grafter and there is nothing he wants more than to return to work and get rid of these debts that are mounting up. Few people can imagine the mental stress that spending six months in a hospital can have on you, let alone the added financial worries.

This is where you can help. Knowing that his friends have chipped in and raised some funds to get him back on his feet will mean so much to Jim and I’m sure will be a huge boost to his recovery.

If you are in a position to donate please do so, no matter how small the amount. Even if you are currently not able to help, please share this page with any other friends of Jim. Together we can get Jim back on his feet.
