Jim Evans Boxing Icon 1935 - 2021

This page is dedicated to the charity Ringside Charitable Trust for ex boxers but there is also another page for the charity Prostate Cancer UK if you would prefer to donate here: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/jimevans-boxingicon

Sadly Jim passed away on February 27th after suffering from prostate cancer. He was looked after by his sons Graham and Justin and their wives for the last couple of months at his home.

Jim has always had a love of boxing having started the sport as a schoolboy and retiring at the age of 29. He settled in Maidenhead with his wife Georgina and started a family.

Boxing was always a passion and having qualified as a trainer built ‘Jim’s Gym’ in his garden and went on to be a successful manager. It was only after the death of his beloved wife that he scaled back his involvement in the sport.

Jim has always had a great love of his family, a sense of humour, inbuilt decency and has a reputation as an inspirational and dedicated mentor to all his boxers.

Due to the COVID restrictions there will be a private cremation but all donations are very welcome in Jim’s memory.

The Ringside Charitable Trust - For many years concern has been expressed for the countless boxing personnel who find themselves suffering from depression, alcohol dependency, injuries and illnesses attributed to boxing. Ringside Charitable Trust, hope to change the way we care for our boxing family. The vision for the home is to include medical help, facilities for ex boxers to be cared for both short and long term, a cinema room for the boxers to watch films of their old fights and a non alcoholic bar where they can sit together and reminisce. There is initial funding in place but the cost of sustaining the home is estimated at £1.5 million per year. Many boxers have entertained us over the decades, and many now need our help in hard times. This is our opportunity to raise funds for The Ringside Charitable Trust, a fantastic project to establish a thirty-six bed residential care facility which will be of enormous benefit to those who sadly have no means of support in dark times.

Many Thanks.
