In loving memory of Jimmy McCusker,

Jimmy was born on New Year’s Day, the first baby born in Lurgan Hospital in 1962, weighing just two pounds, with his photo even published in the paper. From the very beginning, he showed a quiet strength that would carry him through life.

He was a much-loved husband to Ann, the love of his life, and a devoted father to Ciara, Siobhan, Conor, and Kellyann, and a proud grandfather. Jimmy was also a dear brother to Catherine, Frances, David, and Peter, and is reunited now with his sister Rosie.

Raised in Druids Villas in Armagh, Jimmy lived a full and active life with many passions—motorbikes, fishing, music, and the guitar, which was never far from his hand. He brought joy to so many through his singing and playing, especially within prayer groups across the country.

Jimmy’s life was deeply rooted in faith, kindness, and helping others. Sober for 30 years, he supported and guided countless people through AA and prayer, always offering encouragement, understanding, and hope. His faith gave him great strength, especially in his final days.

He faced illness with incredible courage, never complaining, and smiling right until the end. Jimmy passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Over the last 7 months of his life, the team on Ward 2 North in Craigavon cared for Jimmy with such compassion, dignity, and kindness. They went above and beyond throughout his lengthy stay, and our family was deeply moved when the team from 2 North attended Jimmys wake and funeral. They treated him like one of their own, and we will be forever grateful for the support they showed not only to him, but to all of us.

In Jimmy’s memory, we are climbing Croagh Patrick on 12th September, we are raising funds for Ward 2 North so they can continue the amazing work they do for patients and families every day. Every step we take is for him.

This is our way of saying thank you, and of honouring a life filled with love, faith, and quiet strength.
