Story

Ladies and Gentlemen, On Sat August 1st 2025 I will cycle from one side of the country and back again to raise awareness of Neuroendocrine Cancer (NET) on behalf of Johnnie's Journey. My good friend Johnnie Meechan whom many of you will already know, had an amputation early in life after an initial battle with cancer. 9 years ago after feeling very ill and a reassessment, it was discovered he had a neuroendocrine tumour and was given a timescale of life expectancy which he has now exceeded by a good distance. With this horrendous news he decided to raise awareness of his not rare but little known condition by selflessly fundraising through several channels and helping others in return for promotion of his journey. Johnnie's Journey has raised sizable 4 figure sums over the last few years to help food banks, cancer patients and charities all over East Lothian, Edinburgh and beyond. All monies raised will again be donated to charities of Johnnie's choosing across Edinburgh and the Lothians.

Johnnie has had a tough year again with some illness coupled with some craziness with the dogs, parrots and the family chucked in. He's continued to help others throughout.

So to the cycle. Some of the folks from MRCC will accompany me on an established audax route, The Solway C2C2C (coast to coast to coast). We will travel to Cresswell in Northumberland and cycle across the country to Bowness on the Solway Coast and back in one day. 304km (189 miles) and 2741metres (8993 feet) of climbing. A long and difficult day in the saddle. Please give only if you can and share far and wide. Links below for NET cancer info and the route.

Thanks for your time,

WT xx
