I've raised £500 to honour the memory of Jaydon James. We would like to buy a bleed control kit to be placed in Coventry to prevent death from serious trauma.

Story

Jaydon James had just turned 16 when he was killed by stabbing in Coventry on the 24th of November, 2018. This was a horrendous blow to his family friends and much of the Coventry community. Jaydon was sparky, cheeky and funny, never short of a friend and never short of a quick comment with a twinkle in his eye. He was and still is a very loved person.

Witnessing the impact Jaydon’s death had on the people of Wood End and the rest of Cov was the most heart-breaking period any of us have had to go through. We did our best to support each other, especially supporting the friends Jaydon loved so much who were then lost and devestated. There were tears, anger, fear and, overriding this all, an immense grief for all Jaydon was and could have been. His family have suffered the worst bereavement imaginable but have remained steadfast in their faith, dignity and strength

There was also grief for Jaydon’s peers, who had now lost not only a friend, but the happiness, joy, freedom and celebration of moving from childhood into adulthood that 16 year olds deserve to have.

To have this kit in place in Jaydon’s memory may mean that we can prevent another family, another set of friends, another school and another community from suffering through such a devestating loss. There is no getting over such a tragedy but being able to prevent the loss of another life would be a comfort to our community and a worthwhile tribute to Jaydon.

This bleed prevention kit, purchased through The Daniel Baird Foundation, can be the difference between survival and death after a stab wound. It would be publicly accessible in the Coventry community and can be operated by any member of the public. We plan to place the kit within the Moat House Leisure Centre in Wood End- a big thank you to the staff there for supporting our endeavour.

We miss you Jaydon and continue to think of our Foxford students as the fourth anniversary approaches this autumn.
