Story

Jessie Leigh Dance & Cheer Academy (JLDC) has just entered its 3rd Season in Competitive Cheerleading and Dance. Cheerleading as a competitive sport is not your stereotypical Pom Poms, it is a highly demanding athletic sport that requires athletes to tumble like a gymnast, dance like a pro and lift and throw other athletes above their heads.

Within the Gosport community, JLDC trains athletes from walking all the way to 49yrs+. Our majority of athletes are between the ages of 5-18yrs and compete at National and International Championships. JLDC has recently been granted permission to run classes from their very own facility that is now not only their home, but a second home to all of their athletes too. Not only this, but JLDC also works with local schools to improve their Extra-Curricular activities on offer to the youth of the today.

With Cheerleading being an extremely demanding sport, it requires a lot of equipment to train and progress athletes safely and effectively. All training and performances take part on a 12.8 x16.4m gymnastics sprung floor this comes in two parts, Carpet-Bonded Foam Flex-Rolls which is rolled over the top of the sprung floor. Currently, all of JLDC’s budget has been spent on fees incurred in the cost of moving, renovating the building to an acceptable standard, purchasing equipment to aid progression and purchasing the Flex-Rolls that sit on top of the Sprung Floor.

Our main focus is fundraising to purchase the Sprung Floor for the athletes to train on. This comes at a cost of a whopping £10,000. This is where we need your help! Any small donations will be gratefully welcomed by our young athletes wanting to participate in this incredible team sport within the community.
