Story

Recently, whilst riding in Bosnia with a friend, we found Mo on the side of an industrial road next to a cardboard box. Her two siblings had been sadly run over and she was starving hungry, thirsty and absolutely covered in parasites. I knew as soon as I rode past and saw her out the corner of my eye that she was abandoned and couldn't stop myself from going back, only then realising I had no idea what to do in a country where I couldn't speak the language, and where animal rescue shelters are mostly unknown. Mo was so trusting and happy to eat the only food I had (carrot cake energy bars). There was no way I was going to leave her for a lingering death, so we found a vet 8 km away in Mostar and I carried her there in my rucksack on back-to-front. The roads were pretty busy and it was scary at times, but it was worth it as we found a wonderful, and knowledgeable, vet who was so happy to help and who understands the requirements for pet passports. Suddenly we went from assuming she would be euthanised (they have 30 000 unwanted dogs in Bosnia) to realising getting her home to the UK was an absolute possibility. The vet knew of an amazing lady who looks after other dogs and cats, and who has agreed to foster Mo for the next three months, whilst she has her vaccinations etc. This will give us time to raise the funds to pay the vet, the foster bill, travel costs, and bring her to the UK where she will have a lifetime home. We plan to spay her in the UK. Any help, however small, will be appreciated. If any money remains once Mo is settled with us, the funds will be sent to Animal Welfare Advocates for Bosnia ( https://www.facebook.com/AWAbosnia/ ), who have helped massively already with their experience and advice.
