Story

Joanne Lamb is a local girl from North Walsham who needs some financial support for her and her family through this difficult time. She has her husband Rick and two children Amy and Ben. Any help would be fantastic.

For over a year prior to her diagnosis, Jo has suffered intermittent pain in her hip which a physio suggested was damaged ligament and could take upto 2 years to heal. As time passed Jo's pain increased and in December her doctor agreed to refer her for an MRI. Jo had her MRI early morning in January and that same evening her doctor called to say they'd found a mass by her kidneys on the MRI. A week later Jo was seeing a cancer specialist, Dr Heaton at NNUH who referred her for biopsy and CT scans to further ascertain a diagnosis. Three weeks later we were at the Royal Marsden being told the mass was Retroperitoneal Ewings Sarcoma, a rare type of cancer, that appears to be creating nerve impingement causing Jo's hip pain. By the end of the week Jo was having further tests/scans and the following week chemotherapy started as part of a trial having treatment over 6 months rather than 12 and alternating 3 and 5 days of treatment every two weeks (two weeks from start of one treatment to start of next, not two weeks between treatments). The NNUH doesn't do the type of chemo required so Jo has to travel to the Royal Marsden in London everytime. Jo's hip pain has also caused a weakness in her knee that requires her to use a brace and crutches where possible.

The travel to and from the hospital and trying to maintain normal household financial needs is a massive strain and one we would like to help with.
