Story
My nephew, Luke Willcocks (aged 6), has been selected by British Cycling to represent GB at the UCI World BMX Championships in Rock Hill, South Carolina, USA in 2017.
He is an incredibly talented BMX rider, who regularly finishes on the podium at National events. He works hard, crashes harder, gets back on and smiles.
Despite his formal selection, achievements and talent, there is no funding for this trip. The flights, bike transportation and accommodation for Luke and one of his parents will be approximately £3000 - the vast majority of that being the flights, which will need to be booked by February 2017. Luke has fantastic support from his school, family and friends who are doing all they can to raise the funds needed.
This could be a 'once in a lifetime' trip for Luke; it's his dream to be able to race at the World Champs. We would love to be able to tell him that he'll be able to go and compete. This opportunity is huge, the experience gained will be invaluable and he deserves the chance to take his place amongst the best young BMX riders in the world.
