Story

This is our Mum, our Mummy, our Mama Bear…Joanna. She is one of the kindest and most generous people you could ever meet. Having spent her life selflessly helping everyone else, she now needs our help to raise money to pay for her to have a knee replacement operation which will keep her moving and doing selfless things for others.

She is always going above and beyond to help others and to make sure they are supported, whether it be: raising money for charity; creating flower arrangements for the local church, including every Christmas Eve; rescuing injured swans in cold dark fields on a Sunday morning for Swan Rescue; or being an active member of community groups such as Tangent, Wrea Green Flower Club and AKS Ladies' Luncheon Club (holding committee roles in each of them). Even though she should be relaxing and enjoying retired life, this amazing lady is busier than ever now as she gives up more and more time to help other people and other organisations.

She is the epitome of a selfless person and an amazing role model to all of us. She offers to help anyone she can and always says ‘yes’ when asked to help. So please say ‘yes’ to our request that you help her. She is the best friend you could ever ask for and we want her to have the freedom she deserves.

Over the past 2 years, she has suffered an increasing amount of pain in her knee and is now unable to move far without experiencing excruciating pain. Despite this disabling pain, she hasn’t stopped helping others every painful step of the way. She has now been advised that she needs a knee replacement but that she will have to wait 18 months for the operation on the NHS. We cannot bare to see her pain worsen and her mobility deteriorate over the next 18 months. We want her to be able to live her normal life and continue to do all of the wonderful and charitable activities she already does for the community.

She could have the surgery sooner on a private basis but it is expensive and we know that she would never ask for help, opting to wait the 18 months for the operation instead. We are determined to earn, save and raise as much money as we can to pay for her to have the operation privately. She has helped so many people and now it is our time to help her.

Please donate what you can, share her story, participate and help reach our goal together.

Every donation will go towards Joanna’s surgery and helping her back on her feet and living a fulfilling, pain-free life.
