Story

On 6th August 2016, my life changed forever. Whilst rock climbing in North Wales I was involved in a serious fall, and broke my back as I landed precariously on an exposed cliff edge. The injury that I sustained that day left me instantly paralysed from the chest down, and fearing the worst for my life. As I flew in the back of a Coastguard helicopter to the nearest major trauma unit that day, I knew I had to be ready for an uphill battle to recover, and to face the major challenge of rehabilitating from a life changing injury.

It was during my five month stay at the Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries (MCSI) that I was encouraged to write about my story, and to share it with others. Strength Through Adversity is a story which I hope accurately reflects the highs and lows of dealing with a life changing ordeal such as spinal cord injury"

Strength Through Adversity has also become a charity which looks to improve opportunities for disabled people to take part in sport in Shropshire. Thanks to overwhelming support from family, friends and members of the public, Strength Through Adversity has taken its first steps towards making a real difference in the local community.
