Let me tell you about a local group called Bolton sailability club https://sail.org.uk/members/sailability/ . They are RYA recognized and offer an opportunity for disabled people to sail on Belmont reservoir every Friday during the sailing season (weather and conditions permitting). We sail Hansas, dinghies adapted to suit our specific needs . The club is run by Warren Price and is supported purely by volunteers who freely give up their time for disabled people to participate in an activity like anyone else.

All members of our sailability club benefit immensely from the weekly sessions and very much want them to continue and expand to include anyone whom has a disability. Our members travel from all over Lancashire as it’s the only accessible club to attend in the Northwest.

To continue we really need outside funding and support. The club is in need of new equipment and costs to help in the maintenance of the equipment we already have. I’d like to kindly ask if you could assist in helping keep this amazing place running. The current priority is to purchase a golf buggy to assist in pulling the boats up the slipway after our sailing sessions. The water at Belmont reservoir is falling fast and our kind volunteers are mainly of retirement age. The slipway is very steep making it more difficult each week. We are looking to raise approximately £8,000 to be able to purchase and adapt a golf buggy to help with this process.
