Story
Jack was the Unit manager at Newhaven store and was tragically killed on his way to work.
Loss is difficult at the best of times, but to die so young at 28 is heartbreakingly sad. He leaves behind three very young children, Oscar, Olivia and Theo. Having met with Jacks parents they are looking to set up a trust fund for each of them in memory of their Dad.
Region 14 so far have raised £3000 towards a fund in memory of Jack. As his line Manager, I feel the only thing I can do now is to give Jack the best send off we can and help his parents to kick-start a trust fund. I am therefore coming to you my colleagues and senior team members for your help. I would dearly love to raise £10,000 to give to Jacks parents Amanda and Keith.
I was going to write some words about Jack but I think the poem below written by Mark Coombs Unit Manager at Canterbury sums it up better than I ever could.
Thank you in advance for your support - this means a great deal to me personally
Jack
In memory of Jack Stevens
By Mark Coombs
They say the best are called to God
When full of life, and young,
It must have been he needed You
For a task he wanted done.
I am privileged to have known you
A man of strength and worth,
Of kindness and compassion
That walked upon God’s earth.
A ready wit and smile
A warmth for everyone,
That will live on, in your loved ones
Now that you are gone.
And even in our darkest hours
Within the deepest night,
When all seems lost and helpless
There’ll shine the brightest light.
Beyond the veil of darkness
We’ll find the biggest star,
Glorious in it’s radiance
Watching from afar.
For they say, the best are called to God
To join him above,
To do the work of Angels
And watch over us with love.
For dear Jack, you have joined him
Grew wings and left our earth,
With kindness and compassion
A man of strength and worth.
