Using football as a tool to make a difference.

Many young people in Brazil have lives affected by abject poverty, broken/ violent homes, as well as drug and gang cultures in their communities. In 2015 I visited football projects in Fortaleza, that sought to help boys escape this reality and instead inject them with positivity, affirmation, team building, as well as Christian values. This impacted me so much that by the end of that year I resigned from my permanent job, gave up my accommodation to become a missionary.

After visiting a further 4 times from between 10 days to 3 months, I've taken the step to give 1 year to focus on developing one particular project, coaching Under10s to U17s. It's free to the boys and girls who participate, but that means our resources are limited and essential equipment like balls and kits are a challenge to buy. Furthermore, I'm doing this as a volunteer and am self-funding my time here; which is where you come in!
