Story

I worked as a HCA on ward 26 Neuro Rehabilitation for 8 months I cared for people with MS, Guillain Barre Syndrome, traumatic brain injurys, strokes and much more. I seen first hand how people from all ages their lives literally changed from a flick of a switch, people with families, they could walk, talk had lives just like mine and literally the next day they were in a serious accident or their condition esculated and all them things we take for granted got took away. I worked alongside an amazing team of HCAS, nurses, doctors, occupational therapists, physiotherapists who helped these people walk again, talk again, helped them get back into a 'normal' life routines. For the short time I worked there it was a very heavy workload both mentally and physically and the people I cared for could be on the ward for up to year. By raising money for this ward it would go towards wheelchairs, exerciercise equitpment, facilities to make the service users time in hospital more comfortable.
