Story
On August the 22nd 2022 I will be stripping down to some seriously tiny budgy smugglers and attempting to solo swim across the English channel to raise much needed funds for Andy's children's hospice and a local Royal marine veterans welfare group. To give an idea to the scale of this challenge the English channel by straight line distance is approximately 21 miles however due to strong tides on the day I'm expecting to swim around 30 and be in the water for 15 hours ish. Less people have climbed Everest than completed this notorious body of water with potential hypothermia and jellyfish stings being only a few of the hazards I'm most likely to face. This has been an epic journey for me so far having only been able to front crawl a few lengths of my local pool at the start. With Hindsight I should of chosen a far cheaper and easier mid life crises like maybe a motorbike:). I can guarantee every sponsor who donates blood sweat and most likely tears from myself and all money raised will go to a great cause.
The two causes I have decided to raise money for are Andy's Children's hospice and Lincolnshire Royal Marines. Andy's Children's Hospice is a local charity that cares for children and young adults whose lives sadly will not be as long as they should be. This is a great charity that I'm sure any parent can relate to. Lets raise as much money as we can so they can get busy living life to the full and making as many memories as possible in the time they have. My second cause as a royal marine veteran myself is the Lincolnshire Royal marines welfare support group. A donation out of the total raised will be made to this fantastic group with the hope that they can use the donation to support our local corps family in their welfare needs
