Story
Hi
I'm Jodie and I'm Key Stage 4 teacher at Churchill Park Academy in Kings Lynn. At the end of April I will be running the Breckland Cross Country half marathon in Thetford to raise money to buy a defibrillator for our school. This is my first half marathon (which I know will be extra tricky because of the cross country terrain) but I'm excited for the challenge and motivated by the need to buy this essential equipment for our school.
What is a defibrillator and why are they so vital?
A defibrillator is a device that gives a high energy electric shock to the heart through the chest wall to someone who is in cardiac arrest. This high energy shock is called defibrillation, and it's an essential life saving step in the chain of survival. There are many defibrillators available in public places such as train stations, shopping centres, airport and leisure centres. These defibrillators are often known as public access defibrillators (PAD) as anyone can use them in an emergency. You shouldn’t be afraid of using a defibrillator if someone has had a cardiac arrest.

Cardiac arrests can affect everyone in any situation; they don't discriminate against race, age or gender and can cruelly take a life in a matter of seconds. Working with such vulnerable children and active staff, buying a defibrillator would give our school the peace of mind it currently doesn't have. This life saving piece of equipment could save the life of anyone learning at, working within or visiting our school.
Please sponsor me if you can for this amazing cause and for this amazing school! Your money will make a huge difference - every penny counts and your support and encouragement will mean so much.
Thank you for your support, from myself and our school.
Jodie
