Story
10K a day challenge.
As everyone is well aware, we lost our lovely friend Tommy Marshall to suicide and it has broken hundreds and hundreds of hearts.
Tom had so so many friends and people who cared so much about him and I know for a fact that he will never be forgotten and he will always be talked about.
I was fortunate enough to share my birthday with him born on the same day, in the same hospital probably a couple of beds apart. When we were younger we used to love it, pretend to people who didn’t know us that we were in fact twins and see how long we could get away with it.
As we all do, as we grow up we find our own paths in life and whatever we were upto we always found the time to ring each other on our birthdays and wish each other a happy birthday, have a chin wag and see how we both were.
This year I am absolutely dreading a day that should be full of celebrations and a special annual phone call to my mate to wish him a happy birthday and see how he is getting on. So I am going to set myself a challenge...
Starting on the 1st January 2020, I will be attempting to run 10k every single day up until our birthday 16th Feb. This is 47 days straight totalling 470km which is roughly 290 miles. This will be extremely tough but it is nowhere near as tough as what Tom went through personally and I would love for you all to be a part of this challenge with me.
Whilst raising awareness for mental health and encouraging others to talk and speak about there own problems I would also like to make sure that his beautiful little boy Bowie never goes without and as much as we are all here for him emotionally he will also need as much financial support as possible. I have the blessing of Toms family to take on this challenge in his name and try raise as much awareness as possible! All donations will be placed into a trust fund for Bowie, and will be available whenever he needs them the most.
I would be hugely hugely appreciative of any sponsors, big or small for this challenge in order to raise as much money for Bowie whilst remembering his Dad and what a great way to do it.
I will be posting daily updates on social media with progress on how my body is coping 😫 and how much money we are raising.
I would also invite anybody to let me know if they fancy joining me at any day at all in a 10k trot and come on this journey with me. Anyone with any issues they may have we can talk about them or just simply go on a run and talk about Tom and release those endorphins.
Thank you all for reading this and I would be also appreciative of any shares of this post to try and spread this as far and as wide as we possibly can.
Tommy Marshall. Always in our hearts! 💙💙💙
