Story
About the Farnborough Masonic Centre and it's Lodge Members...
The Farnborough Masonic Centre is a hub used by numerous Freemason lodges who attend and meet regularly to discuss, plan and hold regular fundraising events, raising money for many charities. The Farnborough Masonic Centre is a vital hub for these meetings and without this building, there will be no place for the masons to meet and carry out there wonderful charity work. The ongoing costs of repairs and maintenance of the building relies heavily on its members.
You can learn more about this centre at... http://www.farnboroughmasoniccentre.org.uk/
In order to create much needed additional funds, I am going to climb Ben Nevis in June 2018, the UK's highest peak standing at 1345m / 4411ft. I have already put myself in training to prepare for this. You can follow my progress of how things are going on here at Just Giving and my Facebook page which can be found by clicking on the link below.

About Me....
My name is Joe White, I am 71 years old and I am a Mason at the Semper Fidelis Lodge No.6664, which is located at the Farnborough Masonic Centre. I like a challenge, and climbing Ben Nevis has always been one of those things I have wanted to do, so I set myself the challenge to climb the mountain and raise essential funds for the upkeep of our building. I take great pride in being a part of my lodge and helping raise money for the various charities we continuously donate to, I am really honored to be a part of this. Please help me save our building so we can continue raising money and doing good for others. Thank you very much for your support.

6 years agoTuesday 13th June 2018...I DID IT!!!!!! My Ben Nevis challenge is complete! The weather was perfect, sunny but overcast in places, a slight breeze to cool me down when I needed it most and no rain! It took 6 1/2 hours to get to the top with regular breaks and 5 hours to come down the mountain. The scenery was absolutely stunning with some snow at the top. I was told beforehand that climbing Ben Nevis is relentless and they weren't lying! A few sore muscles followed for a few days after! A big thank you to everyone who donated and supported me!

6 years agoTraining continues and its not long until I set off for my climb! (3 weeks to go!). I have been continuing using my treadmill and am currently on a 15% incline. I am also using a cycling machine, lifting weights and doing various stretching exercises. I am feeling great and looking forward to the challenge ahead. Please, please, please show your support by sponsoring me, anything you can give, no matter how big or small would be very much appreciated.
