I've raised £450 to for the UHW Neonatal Unit

During pregnancy, every mother expects a normal birth, a normal delivery, a healthy newborn baby. Unfortunately for many, thats not always the case. There are many reasons why babies require admission to the NICU, but most babies are either born prematurely or are born at term but then become unwell. NICU routinely looks after babies born as early as only 24 weeks gestation and occasionally 23 weeks gestation. Many families spend days, weeks and even months in the Neonatal Unit whilst their babies are being cared for by staff. This is a difficult, emotional and worrying time that effects the whole family.
We are aiming to swim a marathon in a day, that’s 42 km, or 2,100 lengths in a 20 meter pool, to raise money to help the Neonatal unit supply the basics for mothers.
The charity scips - aims to support the neonatal unit by helping all families that go through the experience of having a sick baby on a Neonatal Intensive care unit. Donations to scips will help provide vital medical equipment such as astoria translluminator lights (aids the medical team in securing intravenous lines in our sick babies), as well as comforting items such as- bereavement support packs, keepsake boxes, baby diaries, reclining breast feeding chairs and breast feeding pumps. With the number of premature births increasing, we want to help facilitate the unit, and contribute to the care that is provided.
Thankyou!
