Story
Our dear brother John Barrett has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive stage 4 brain tumour. Sadly, the prognosis for John is not positive and his medical team are focusing on making John as comfortable as possible. Many of John's friends, colleagues and family members have asked how they can help at this difficult time. Therefore, we have set up this page to allow events to help raise funds for John's care and the welfare of his young son Sean. When John received his diagnosis the main concern for him was the future of his son Sean. We as family members, colleagues and friends would like to help ease John's concerns and let him focus on his battle with this terrible illness.
The first event taking place is being organised by John's Momart colleagues Paul Clark and Dave Perrott who will be doing the Thames Path Challenge on 9th September 2017 www.thamespathchallenge.com . Our friend Richard Quaresma of Dockside Personnel has also kindly agreed to do the Thames Path Challenge. This is a gruelling 100k (62 mile) walk and we thank Paul, Dave and Richard in advance for taking up this challenge and supporting John & his family.
Another event taking place is a 10k run in Greenwich Park on 26th November 2017 being organised by David Ronan and friends. The Movember Run supports charities related to men's health. If you want to participate in this run on behalf of John then contact dronan24@googlemail.com
There will be other events in support of John and we will keep you posted on this page as these arise.
On behalf of John and his family we would like to thank everyone for their support and concern shown at this very difficult time.

6 years agoDear family & friends who kindly contributed to John’s Just Giving Page. Most of you will be aware by now that John sadly lost his brave battle against brain cancer on Monday 2nd April 2018. The last few weeks have been very difficult for the family as we come to terms with John’s loss. Thank you to everyone especially those who braved the 50k walk or 10k run. If you would like to attend John’s funeral in Braintree Essex on 11th May then please contact Jim by e-mail timmyjimmy.barrett@btinternet.com Jim & family, Tracy, Roxy, James & Grandkids
